Why Face-To-Face Meetings Are So Important

Face to Face Meeting

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting some of our clients with my team to review their program. As we completed our final meeting and were saying our goodbyes, one of the individuals we met with said:

“You know, we appreciate you coming out to see us. Not many companies do face-to-face meetings anymore. The fact that you took the time to do this meeting here, not just over the phone, really shows how much you care about our success.”

While technologies like the telephone, email, and the internet are not new, the migration from the conference rooms to web conferencing seems to be more and more the commonplace.

We see it all the time in our industry today. Many companies are only willing to meet via a web conference or send you a contract through email. It seems as if they do not want to take the time or the energy to really understand your business over lunch or review your program in the comfort of your office.

So why are face-to-face meetings so important to us?

  1. Clients and industry data show that it’s what you - Recent research from Hubspot shows 84% of business people prefer in-person meetings over virtual ones, for a variety of reasons.
  2. In-person meetings build stronger business relationships - There is no virtual substitute for the handshake. In-person meetings are important to us because they allow us, and you as well, to learn more about the individual and their environment; more than you ever could through a computer screen and headset.
  3. Face-to-face meetings establish a connection - We want our clients to feel confident in our ability to move their company forward. We could just hide behind a dial-pad, talk to you once, and then hope you never call back, but that is not the experience we want you to have. Instead, we want you to experience our passion and drive to make your business better and to make the life of your employees' easier.

To Sum this up into one sentence; People work with People.

Of course, technology is important – and it is one of the pillars of our success – but do you know what we think is even more important? The people who are using the technology. While others might not find the value in meeting with you in person, we will never let that level of service waiver. It is built into everything we do as a company.
