Business Vehicle Liability: Are You Aware of Your Risk?

According to U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly two-thirds of vehicle fatalities (64.5%) occur outside the typical business day—early mornings, evenings, and weekends. In fact, the deadliest three-hour periods are from midnight to 3 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, more than two-fifths (44%) of all vehicle crashes occur outside the typical business day.

What does this have to do with business vehicles? Everything—especially if your organization maintains a fleet of company-provided vehicles. Chances are you are not aware of the great degree of risk your company could be facing. According to most corporate risk and legal departments, 100% of all accidents involving company-provided vehicles become the liability of the company.
